What does “wide effective SOC range,” one of the features of SCiB™, mean?
Since SCiB™ can maintain high input/output performance regardless of the SOC*, the cells can be used from SOC 0% to 100%.
In contrast, with conventional lithium-ion batteries, input/output performance changes significantly depending on the SOC. In addition, the usable SOC range must be limited to suppress capacity degradation, requiring more batteries than the originally needed capacity.
Because SCiB™ does not require the SOC range to be limited, there is no need to install more battery capacity than necessary, enabling efficient battery pack design.
